About Me
For decades I was told everything was ‘normal’ even as my list of symptoms grew longer.
It started around the age of 12 with the onset of severe GI issues, sudden food intolerances and extreme fatigue. But over time became hip issues, searing shoulder blade pain, constant bloating, alternating constipation/diarrhea, debilitating cramps, esophageal dysfunction, chronic pelvic pain and insomnia.
I was shuffled specialist to specialist only to hear: “That’s part of being a woman” “Have you tried yoga?” “Just take some Advil” “periods are painful for everyone”
Without any answers, I tried every diet, supplement and protocol out there, I adjusted my life and pushed through while always being made to wonder if I was just being dramatic.
“Congratulations, you’re not crazy” my specialist said after diagnosing me with stage 4 endometriosis throughout my entire abdominal cavity- what a relief after 25 years of being made to feel like I didn’t know my own body.
But alongside that relief also came waves of grief, anger, frustration and a whole pile of new questions. Even as a healthcare professional, navigating endometriosis care was overwhelming and exhausting.
My hours of researching and learning about the condition lead me to seek out expert excision surgery and a fantastic care team.
Surgery was part of the picture for me but I understand now, it was only the beginning of my healing. Pelvic health strategies, strength training, movement practices, nutrition, and learning to listen to myself and my body differently all brought me to the place I am now. Unfortunately there wasn’t a perfect protocol or quick fix to follow but, what’s helped me the most, is understanding my priorities, slowly and thoughtfully integrating supports and staying open to adjusting my plan when needed.
Endometriosis has taught me so much about my body and my needs as well as the way I understand the true meaning of healthcare.
My Experience
As a physiotherapist, I have a background in high-level sport, orthopedics, Pilates and treating chronic pain. I’ve worked with thousands of people navigating complex symptoms and injuries as well as professional athletes competing at the top of their game for over 15 years.
In recent years, I’ve also spent time working as a certified coach, helping individuals navigate burnout, better understand their capacity and create lives that support their needs.
From my perspective, these two aspects of my work are deeply intertwined. Symptoms don’t exist in a vacuum, healing is rarely linear and the “best” plan on paper isn’t always the right plan for the person who has to carry it out in real life.
My personal experience with endometriosis, along with the stories of all those I’ve supported throughout my career, has deepened my belief that, yes, people need expertise and access to good information but, we also need space held for our personal stories, the nuance of our experience and a plan that is tailored to our specific needs.
How this space can support you:
I built this site with the aim of ensuring more people with endometriosis, and their loved ones, can access clear and actionable information. It’s my hope that it helps you better understand endometriosis, prepare for conversations with your healthcare team and explore different pieces that might inform you in your care.
For some, the resources shared here may be exactly what you need- that’s perfect!
For others, there can come a point when more information is not the answer. And that’s where my 1-1 work comes in. Together, we can sort through what you’ve been told, identify what matters most right now and help you create your own individualized action plan.
I’ll never pretend there’s a perfect roadmap for endometriosis but what I can offer is thoughtful guidance, clinical experience, lived understanding and support finding a path that feels clear, manageable and more like your own.
